Services

We are an independent practice specialising in the conservation and repair of historic and traditional buildings. A personal service is provided to each individual client, with every effort made to involve them in the project and, where appropriate, develop their understanding of the building.

Among the comprehensive range of services provided by Oxley Conservation Ltd are:

Condition and Defect Surveys

We have a wealth of experience in carrying out building surveys, including investigations of specific defects to buildings and detailed surveys of timber-framed buildings. Our survey reports are individually written and can include detailed photographs, illustrative drawings and sketch plans. We will also include specific recommendations on how to tackle identified defects along with general information about maintaining and repairing traditional buildings.

Design and Management of Conservation Projects

Oxley Conservation Ltd can execute conservation projects from start to finish including the design, coordinating professionals (e.g. archaeologists, materials analysts, painting conservators, services engineers) to research buildings, compiling conservation plans, obtaining funding and planning consents through to carrying out the specification and supervision of conservation repairs.

Planning, Listed Building and Grant Funding Applications

We can submit planning applications and listed building applications to local authorities for clients as well as grant funding applications to the Heritage Lottery Fund, English Heritage and other sources of financial assistance for projects.

Environmental Assessments

We are passionate about improving the energy efficiency of old buildings in an appropriate and compatible manner. At Oxley Conservation we start with the premise that you need to understand the building before making any improvements for energy efficiency. From our understanding of each building encountered, we can ensure that recommendations for implementing ways of improvement are made that are appropriate to each individual building.

Guidance and Advice

We can advise on options for the sensitive modification or extension of traditional buildings and offer guidance to institutions, professionals and homeowners based on an appropriate and sympathetic conservation approach.

Independent Damp and Timber Reports

We aim to identify and address the causes of damp and timber decay in order to remedy the problem rather than merely treating the symptoms.

Expert Witness Reports

We can act as an expert witness in cases involving traditional buildings.
